A Federal Inlaid Mahogany And Eglomise Shelf Clock

Simon Willard (1753-1848), Roxbury, Massachusetts, Circa 1820


with enameled round dial inscribed, "Simon Willard/ Boston," the hood with flat molded cornice over case door with eglomise panel with clear window for dial, the case with plain inlaid front, on molded base with ogee feet.

Height 30 3/4 x width 13 3/4 x depth 6 inches.

Condition
overall in nice condition, with wonderful figuring to mahogany veneer; the hood with added with two thin wood sheets (one to back of eglomise, and the other just inside case) as protective reinforcements for glass panel; eglomise in great shape, with only a couple small losses, may be refreshed or replaced; case with age crack to front panel along right-hand side; enamel dial with some cracquelure commensurate with age; back right-facing foot with repaired break; front base molding with mended break; some age cracks to side panels on case; backside of case with some screw holes from being secured to the wall; interior of case with metal plate installed to prevent weight from falling forward; with large weight, pendulum; as with all mechanical objects, Freeman's does not guarantee functionality for clocks
